U.S. citizens have the right to fully participate in the U.S. political system, are represented and protected abroad by the U.S., and are allowed to reside in the U.S., and certain territories, without any immigration requirements. In addition, U.S. citizens are eligible for significant U.S. government benefits, unavailable to foreigners and U.S. lawful permanent residents.
